COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A person died after a shooting at a Waffle House near Ohio State's campus early Monday morning.
Multiple 911 callers reported a fight and someone getting shot at 1712 North High Street just after 2:30 a.m., Columbus police dispatchers said.
Paramedics rushed the victim to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where that person later died, authorities said.
Multiple evidence markers littered the sidewalk outside the restaurant, which sits across the street from campus.
Police did not release the identity of the victim or any information about possible suspects.
North High Street was closed temporarily at 12th Avenue for the investigation and is now back open.
"We are looking at video right now trying to see if we can garner any suspects," First assistant chief Lashanna Potts with the Columbus Division of Police said. "Right now we don't believe it involves any OSU students, but that could change as we continue the investigation."
Monday's incident happened near the same spot where 25-year-old Deijon Bedgood was fatally shot last year.
Two men have been charged and are now awaiting trial in that case.
