ALBANY, N.Y. — Nicholas Higgins, of Albany, was sentenced to 23 years to life in state prison on Wednesday, the Albany County District Attorney's Office said.
The 30-year-old was convicted of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Higgins' indictment accused him of killing 23-year-old Uizaie Brigman near 500 Hamilton Street in Albany on or around January 11, 2021.
Albany police say when they arrived on seen, they found Brigman inside of a car with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Higgins was also accused of possessing a loaded, illegal firearm at the time off the murder.
“I miss him every day of my life, my son, my life, my angel I hope others use this sentencing as a cautionary tale about how many lives will forever be impacted because of this horrific, and cruel crime," said Latisha Brigman, the victim's mother.

"My one and only son’s body, mutilated, with 17 bullets," she continued. "That has left an incredible scar in my mind for the rest of my life.”
