Johnstown, Pa — Spring is right around the corner and with that comes baseball!
6 News took a trip to Curvefest located at Peoples Natural Gas field in Altoona where in just a few short weeks baseball will be played again.
“Today is Curvefest,” said Nate Bowens, the General Manager of the Altoona Curve. “It's our annual kick off event to the season. First chance for people to buy individual tickets for games and then they’ll all go on sale at 1:00 today online.”
Bowens says they’ve held Curvefest for the past couple of years and that this is the first time the event was held in March.
“We got a little warmer weather for today so and the rain kinda held off a little for us this afternoon,” Bowens said.
The weather didn’t stop the event from going on – or people from showing up!
“People are excited just to be back at the ballpark,” added Bowens. “Really looking forward to it.”
People like Schawnne and Eoghen Kilgus.
“We're gonna get some tickets to the first game and were gonna pick up a lawn sign that well have all year and get and get excited for baseball outdoors,” said Schawnne Kilgus. “Are you excited for baseball? Say we're outside.”
Bowens tells Channel 6 he is thankful for the community and all the support they share – before, during and after baseball season!
“We couldn’t do it without all the fans coming out supporting the team and supporting us.”
Opening day for the Altoona Curve is April 9th!
