After Cardi B was announced the winner in the Best Rap Album category, Grande tweeted, "f---." She immediately deleted it, along with another that said Miller's loss was "literal bulls---" and "trash." She was then forced to respond to angry fans, who felt she was bashing Cardi.
"nothing to do w her," Grande tweeted in response to a fan. "good for her. i promise. im sorry."
She then responded to another fan, who echoed her sentiments, tweeting that the Recording Academy shouldn't have invited Miller's parents to the show if he wasn't going to win. Grande said that was exactly what she was getting at, noting that Miller's mother, Karen MacCormick, went above and beyond to be ready to grace the stage in the event her son posthumously won.
"this. this is what i meant. karen was gonna have a green suit made," she wrote. "he slept in the studio for two months."

"THEY INVITED HIS PARENTS OUT. NO," Grande replied.
She has since deleted even her defenses of the original tweets. Still, Twitter was flooded with mixed reactions to Grande's response. Several fans called her "trash," while others seemed to understand that the sentiment was not directed toward Cardi.
"Mac Miller deserved to win," one tweeter wrote, along with a crying emoji.
Another wrote, "anyways... why do you... keep... setting yourself... up like this..."
Grande has said no more about the drama. While she may issue an apology, as she has in the past, she does not appear to be in a rush.
