An El Dorado photographer has found a unique way to help the Union County Animal Protection Society adopt out their pets and raise some money for the shelter in the process.

Tammy Swarek has been getting the Union County shelter dogs camera ready and taking their photographs to help the dogs find loving homes as part of the Shelter Pets Project.

The dogs have been dressed in outfits and hairpieces to get ready for their close-ups. Since the photos have been taken, the interest in the dogs and the shelter has increased.

Swarek said they wanted to come up with something a little different, as most shelter dogs get their photos taken with a cell phone while they're in a cage.

The images have also turned into tote bags, mugs and clothing that can be purchased, with those proceeds going to benefit the shelter.

The Union County Animal Protection Society reportedly only gets $10,000 a year from Union County to fund the shelter, but the operation costs can cost upwards of $200,000 a year.

The shelter does takes donations from individuals, but would also like to get the help of a grant or a corporate sponsor to help with costs. Click the link below if you would like to donate.
