When you get to the city entrance, there is an issue that you might run into right at the threshold. You keep trying to walk through the gates and the game keeps rubberbanding you backwards. Apparently, if you exit to the character screen at this point and come back in, you’ll automatically appear at the waypoint inside the city. I hope that it works for you, too.
