PITTSBURGH - Johnstown native LaRod Stephens-Howling joined the University of Pittsburgh’s football staff on Friday as a graduate assistant.

Coach Pat Narduzzi said Stephens-Howling will be involved with recruiting and operations.

Stephens-Howling, a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School, played for Pitt from 2005-08 and twice was the team’s leading rusher.

He was a seventh-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2009 and played four seasons for them as a running back and kick returner.

Stephens-Howling signed with the Steelers in 2013 and played in one game before a knee injury ended his NFL career.
