BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Blair County say an Altoona mother is facing charges after she reportedly left her four young children home alone while she attended a "drug and alcohol convention" in Ocean City, Maryland over the weekend.
Police say on Sunday evening, officers were contacted after the young children were reportedly found walking in the street.
According to the affidavit, police say that when officers arrived at the 3rd Street residence, the children were inside the home and "under the supervision of multiple adults."
Upon further investigation, police learned that the oldest child, age 13, had been left to care for three younger siblings, ages 10, 8 and 1, while their mother, 32-year-old Jasmine Snyder, was attending a convention in Maryland.
Police say Snyder reportedly left on Friday and was scheduled to return home on Monday.
Officers say three individuals were reportedly tasked with "checking in" on the children, and said individuals stated that they had been at the residence just 10 minutes prior to police arriving.
Police say two of the individuals stated that they had visited the residence several times, prior to Sunday evening.
Investigators say officers then searched the residence and discovered the home to be filthy and in disarray.
Authorities noted that food was found all over the floor, and dirty dishes filled the sink.
Police also noted that the basement of the home was filled with water, piles of dirty clothes and trash.
According to online court records, Snyder was arraigned Monday afternoon on multiple counts of child endangerment.
She was then released on unsecured bail.
