Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — In Cambria County Wednesday, Richland Cinemas tested out new 3-D technology.
Owner Ed Troll says new digital projectors will be able to show films at a higher frame rate, which will catch up with the cameras being used to shoot the films.
Frames will go from 24 to 48 frames a second, which brings in a greater depth of field for the viewers eyes.
He says the higher the frame rate, the more real the image appears.
"If you remember the days when you went from your old TV set to your first wide-screen or flat screen TV, how big the quality of the picture changed, it's a similar degree of change going from the old 3D to the high frame rate 3D.”
Richland Cinemas is the only movie theater in the area that has the technology for high frame rate 3D, and is one of only three auditoriums in the country that can show movies at that rate.
