So who do you think was the house band for the Paul McCartney-Heather Mills wedding bash at Castle Leslie in Ireland, June 11? It could not be just any band considering the likes of Ringo Starr, Chrissie Hynde, David Gilmour and other well known pop stars in attendance. Or could it?
Think again.
It was a 13-piece band Soul Solution from Englewood, NJ that usually plays weddings, bar mitzvahs and corporate parties. So how did they get this trans-Atlantic gig?
Practice, practice, practice…
No, that gets you to Carnegie Hall.
Play, play, play and be seen.
That is right.
Last year they performed at a wedding where one of the guests was a Miramax vice-president. Then, from that lucky break, they were hired by hotelier Ian Schrager for Miramax's private party after the "Concert for New York" that helped the 9/ll victims. McCartney saw the band there.
So that is how a New Jersey wedding band got the surprise call for Paul McCartney's nuptials.
Soul Solution, an 11-man, two-woman ensemble, also plays clubs, like a recent gig Le Bar Bat in New York.
