On July 9 at around 5:30 p.m., police responded to the 3500 block of Hayes Street to find Damari Wright, 17, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Wright showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities reported.
On August 9, law enforcement located and arrested the suspect, 18-year-old Marquelle Hodges, police said.
He was charged with second degree murder while armed, but the incident remains under investigation, according to law enforcement officials.
