Tony Dokoupil has not disclosed the exact day he was born, but sources say he was born in 1981. He was raised by parents Ann Dokoupil and Anthony Edward Dokoupil during what he has publicly described as being full of sour-sweet experiences. As a child, he never enjoyed traveling but often went with his mother.

Tony lived under the impression that his parents were wealthy, little did he know that his mother was involved in drug deals and her many trips were basically to raise drug money. With such wealth he shrugged his shoulders at the ex-President of the United States; George Bush’s grandchildren who attended the same private school with him. He often thought his father was a real estate mogul, but in his later years he learned about both his drug addiction and drug problems. Unfortunately, his father’s actions caught up with him and he was raised by his mother alone.

When his father left, Tony and his mother experienced severe hardship. They vacated their expensive home and purchased a modest apartment in Maryland. Eventually, Dokoupil dropped out of school and took his father’s place as a marijuana smuggler. He was successful in his trade for a few years, making a lot of money and also losing some.

While Tony Dokunpil was earning his living, he went back to enrolling at the George Washington University of Business. There he studied communication and marketing and graduated summa cum laude in 2003 with a BBA. He then earned a master’s degree from Columbia University in 2005. He also has a Ph.D. in media studies.

Tony Dokoupil’s career took shape while he was in college. He began working as a writer and editor for Newsweek Periscope. Three years later he got a bigger job as senior writer for The Daily Beast and Newsweek. Shortly after getting the job, he began working for NBC News. He spent three years with them before joining MSNBC, where he worked as a reporter. He worked tirelessly and was well acquainted with the ethics of broadcasting. He covered various local and international news.
