Dump truck driver suffers minor injuries after colliding with train in Centre County

State police say the driver of a dump truck that collided with a train in Centre County Thursday morning suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Investigators say the collision occurred just before 10 a.m. Thursday as the truck was attempting to cross the railroad tracks, near a private lane, along the 7000 block of South Eagle Valley Road in Worth Township.

Troopers say a northbound train struck the truck, knocking the empty dump bed off and pushing it approximately 150 yards down the tracks.

Authorities say the driver, a Bellefonte man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to UPMC Altoona for evaluation.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
